It is my sincere pleasure to introduce the KidsRock4Kids, a group of motivated teens who are focused on doing more than “watching”. Last year, my daughter Tina, was at a leadership assembly where a speaker encouraged students to become proactive about their futures not reactive. He touched upon an organization called the Invisible Children.

Intrigued, she decided to research this group. What she learned both challenged her and broke her heart. She read about the Acholi people of Northern Uganda and how kids her age where living in IDP camps with no chance for an education or the basic day to day things we take for granted. She also learned of the non-profit program run by Invisible Children called Schools for Schools that emphasizes today’s youth becoming leaders of today instead of waiting for tomorrow.

Before either of us knew what was happening, this simple “what if” had begun to blossom into a full fledged group loaded with endless possibilities! Now at the start of her junior year in high school, we are proud to say that 20 other young men and women have decided to “do more than watch” and have become active volunteers in our venture.

Our initial goal began at $3,000 to directly assist in rebuilding a high school in Northern Uganda through the Schools For Schools Program.

The group has managed to raise a slightly over $1,000 towards this effort.

Throughout the process of hosting bake sales, concerts, and art days, we have all, myself included, learned invaluable lessons about team work, leadership and presenting one’s passion for a cause to others. It has become apparent that with the right support and guidance from leaders in our community, the KidsRock4Kids can be much more than a “fund raising” service.

It is the perfect platform to inspire the “Y ME” generation of today to become the “Y Not” Leaders of tomorrow.

As a parent and a small business owner, I am honored to know and mentor this fantastic group of kids. Please feel free to view our site and contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have.
